![]() So if you're trying to play windowed with a widescreen fix, use a resolution that is smaller than that of your monitor! (Unable to say if this is 100% correct, but it feels right haha. I believe the game attempts to set windowed mode within the constraints of the monitor it is on, and if it's too large, says it can't do it. Turns out 1920x1080 DOES work in windowed. Quick note, I MUST have changed the resolution the patch was at, that's all that really makes sense haha.ģrd Edit: I believe I found the issue! Trying to run the game on my 2560x1440 monitor, the corresponding resolution patch works fine in full screen but not in windowed. I didn't even reboot my computer since the last time I played! Very strange stuff, so still looking for an actual solution to this. If anyone else is having issues with windowed mode after installing things, it's probably the unofficial patch from there.Ģnd Edit: After a full day of enjoying things working correctly, I'm back to my initial issue where the game gives me an error when trying to enter windowed mode ("can't set windows mode" or something). Thanks for any help you can provide!Įdit: Looks like the issue was the unofficial patch I installed from the Heaven Games website, which is also where I grabbed the widescreen patches. Plus, windowed mode always makes it easier to jump back over to my other monitor to whatever I've got going on over there. My biggest problem with running the game in fullscreen is that I have 2 monitors (mismatched, if it matters) and every time I launch the game, it messes with the resolutions for everything and moves windows around, un-maximizes things, sometimes pushes windows off of all my screens, etc. Or, put another way, I NEED the game to be in windowed mode, and I really WANT the game to have a higher resolution. Ideally I would love to patch the game to either 1920x1080 or 2560x1440, then continue to run the game in windowed mode where it will stretch the game assets to whatever the window's size is, just like it does with a vanilla install. If you replace the folder, it will be incomplete and the game will not run, giving the fonts error reported by the last poster.Been fiddling with this for the last few hours and can't seem to get things working quite the way I want. There should be an Options menu click it and select Display Options. Start the game in the native resolution, which is either 800圆00 or 640x480. I can run the game in widescreen (1080p), but it keeps crashing after clicking on the world map button. COPY the contents of that folder (38 files) into the game's data folder, choosing to replace files when prompted. Poseidons Editor is part of the Zeus.exe so there are not designer issues as with EmperorEdit.exe, though some designers may take issue with the aesthetic borders and menuing. I encountered some problems, but resolved them. I understand, both widescreen and the original Poseidon 2.1 now have Pecunias fix/patch, though I have not verified by playing both versions.
