Costa monitored the depot from a room of a tenement building across Prince Street from the Brink's building. The gang members entered the building on practice runs after the staff had left for the day. O'Keefe and Gusciora stole the plans for the site alarms. Pino studied schedules and was able to determine what the staff was doing based on when the lights in the building windows were on. The gang decided to wait for the optimal time for their heist. "Jazz" Maffie, Henry Baker, James "Jimma" Faherty, and Joseph Banfield. Once this was done, Pino recruited seven other men, including Pino's brother-in-law Vincent Costa, Michael Vincent "Vinnie" Geagan, Thomas "Sandy" Francis Richardson, Adolf H. They later temporarily removed the cylinders from the five locks, one at a time, so that a locksmith could make duplicate keys for them. O'Keefe and Gusciora secretly entered the Brink's depot they picked the outside lock with an ice pick and the inner door with a piece of plastic. He brought in Anthony Pino and Stanley "Gus" Gusciora. Joseph "Big Joe" McGinnis was the originator of the heist, according to information later gleaned from Joseph "Specs" O'Keefe. Stanley Gusciora – Gusciora died in July 1956 of a brain tumor, before he could be tried for his role in the robbery. ![]() Joseph Banfield – Banfield died in 1955, at the age of 45.James Faherty – Faherty, along with Geagan and Maffie, was released in 1969 after being paroled.Henry Baker – Baker died in prison in 1961, at the age of 54.Michael Geagan – Geagan was released in 1969 after being paroled.He was arrested again in 1985 and charged with cocaine trafficking. Vincent Costa – Costa was released from prison in 1969 after being paroled.Thomas "Sandy" Richardson – Richardson died in 1980, at the age of 73.He was the last surviving member of the robbery. Adolph "Jazz" Maffie – Maffie died in September 1988, at the age of 77.Anthony Pino – Pino died in October 1973, at the age of 67.Joseph "Specs" O'Keefe – O'Keefe died in March 1976, at the age of 67.He was responsible for destroying incriminating evidence, including guns, the truck, and clothes. Joseph McGinnis – according to O'Keefe's testimony, McGinnis was the mastermind behind the robbery.
